Paddeln auf dem Rioni / Tvishi Gorge

a fantastic gorge, with huge colorful limestone walls and boxtrees (reminding of Southern France) and wide forests in the lower part. Especially pleasant in autumn, when the water is clear and green. (WW III) In spring/summer continuous huge rapids with big waves, sucking eddies and stoppers (WW IV). First deep in the gorge, then easier for a while when the canyon opens, then again difficult rapids, the biggest below a small bridge in a left turn. Afterwards easier in a beautiful forested gorge, very pleasant with some small rapids. The river is rafted commercially.
